Carved pumpkins line pathways, faux ghosts hang over multicolored trees, and skeleton hands stick out from behind hedges. Though the unusually warm weather has much of the Pacific Northwest fooled, at the Davis Graveyard it’s evident that Halloween is here.
Chris and Jeff Davis, the artistic directors and Halloween-lovers behind Davis Graveyard, have been setting up this Halloween display which covers half an acre of their front yard, for 15 years. Almost all of their props are handmade out of wood and Styrofoam. The cost of the annual graveyard display is largely covered by workshops where Chris and Jeff share their skills on how to make Halloween props.
The free Halloween event is located in Milwakuie, OR, and the couple says it attracts between 2,500 and 3,500 visitors during the month of October. They say that on Halloween night, crowds can reach up to 1,800 visitors.
