PDX Relief

More than two weeks after an estimated five thousand people lost their lives in a devastating typhoon in the Philippines, about four million people are still struggling after losing their homes. And although aid has been flowing, there are millions displaced and still in need.

A coalition of Filipino-American groups, other nonprofits and individuals has just launched called PDX Relief. Angelica Lim with the Portland Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, one of the groups in the coalition, says the goals are three fold:

  • Be a clearinghouse of information about relief  efforts
  • Offer suggested organizations for relief donations so that people can be sure their contributions are getting to those in need
  • Provide long term support for those affected by calamities

Have you been following the disaster relief efforts in the Philippines? What questions do you have for people involved in these efforts?
