On Wednesday night, Portland will play host to its first All-Star Game. The players selected from Major League Soccer  will be pitted against Bayern Munich, one of the best teams in the world which boasts seven players from World Cup champion Germany. The game will also reunite eight players from the U.S. men’s national soccer team.

Although the Timbers will be featuring a couple of players in the All-Star Game, their season has not gone as planned. After winning the Western Conference last year and making it to the semi-finals of the MLS World Cup, the Timbers have stumbled to a 6-7-9 record, due in large part to injury and ineffective play from their defense.

We’ll talk about the All-Star Game and the Timbers season with with Michael Orr, co-host of the “Soccer Made in Portland” podcast and a contributor to the SB Nation Timbers blog Stumptown Footy.
