Portland Isn't As Young Or Underemployed As You've Heard

Portland’s reputation as a place young people go to retire quickly went from a Portlandia joke to a media narrative, but a new report (pdf) from Portland’s city economist shows the city’s residents are actually older and more employed than that narrative suggests. The “Portland in Perspective” report compares Portland to 49 of the biggest cities in the U.S., measuring demographics, employment data, wealth and poverty, and how people get to work.

We’ll dig into the findings with Josh Harwood, the Portland city economist.
