Putting The PPS Dispute In Context

Pete Springer/OPB/Creative Commons

Portland Public Schools and its teachers seem to have averted the possibility of a strike, which had been set to begin this Thursday. Teachers and the district had clashed over a variety of issues, including the length of the school  year, teacher work loads and early retirement. We’ll talk to education reporter Rob Manning about the latest settlement details. And we’ll check in with Gordon Lafer with the University of Oregon’s Labor Education and Research Center to get national context for this regional dispute.

Have you been following the bargaining? What questions does it raise for you?
