Portland Public Schools and its teachers seem to have averted the possibility of a strike, which had been set to begin this Thursday. Teachers and the district had clashed over a variety of issues, including the length of the school year, teacher work loads and early retirement. We’ll talk to education reporter Rob Manning about the latest settlement details. And we’ll check in with Gordon Lafer with the University of Oregon’s Labor Education and Research Center to get national context for this regional dispute.
