OPB | July 31, 2009 9 a.m. | Updated: Sept. 10, 2013 8:55 p.m.

As the summer heat hits unbelievable highs, families across the state are searching for pools and fountains and shade to play in. But some people are also just trying to find lunch to eat and activities to keep their minds — and bodies — active, without having to spend any money. What do families who can’t afford camp or daycare or lunch everyday do?

Over the next month we’ll share some of our favorite programs with you. And today is an example of that: a rebroadast of a show from last summer called Summer Struggles.

You can read the original post here or begin your comments about things to do for free below. Whether it is summer lunch programs, free events, or reduced-price camps, what do you do to keep your family nourished during these hot summer days?
