Ann Clark/Joe Bell's Walk For Change

If you’re a regular listener to this show, you’re probably familiar with the story of Joe Bell.

Joe was the man from La Grande who decided to walk across the country to bring attention to bullying after his 15-year-old son, Jadin, took his own life. We talked to him when he started his trek, and again about a month ago. Last week, we received terrible news: Joe was hit by a truck and killed while walking along a road in eastern Colorado.

This summer, the Portland writer Pauls Toutonghi spent a day walking with Joe. He ended up writing a heartbreaking essay in Salon. We’ll talk to Pauls about their time together.

Note: There will be a memorial service at 2pm on Thursday at the Gilbert Event Center at Eastern Oregon University.
