Report Shows University Of Oregon In Last Place For Benchmarks

OPB | Nov. 6, 2013 12:45 p.m.

An internal report (pdf) reveals the University of Oregon is lagging behind other public universities in several areas including graduation rates, retention, faculty grants and publications, and student-to-professor ratios.

Interim provost Scott Coltrane issued the “Benchmarking the University of Oregon” report at the behest of UO president Michael Gottfredson. According to Coltrane, the purpose of the report was to answer one overarching question: “How well do we compete for resources and how well do we achieve our mission?” He compared the university to 34 other public universities using 22 different metrics.

Are you a student or faculty member at the University of Oregon? Are you an alum? What’s your reaction to this report?
