Right 2 Dream Too Seeks New Home

OPB | Sept. 11, 2013 12:35 p.m. | Updated: Feb. 7, 2014 4:18 p.m.

Right 2 Dream Too has had a contentious relationship with the City of Portland, but it looks like that might be changing. The homeless camp has been in a parking lot in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood since October 2011. The nonprofit organization that operates the camp leases the space from the property owner. About ninety people sleep there on an average night.

The city has fined the camp thousands of dollars for violating anti-camping laws. This week, Right 2 Dream Too struck an agreement with Portland City Commissioner Amanda Fritz to waive the fines and relocate the camp to a spot underneath the Broadway Bridge in the Pearl District for at least one year. It’s unclear exactly what the process will be moving forward and Pearl District residents have already expressed concerns

Do you live or work in the Pearl District? How would Right 2 Dream Too affect you?
