Singer and songwriter Teisha Helgerson died last year after a long battle with lukemia. She was the voice of the band Amelia, and was well-loved in Portland’s independent music scene. This week, a group of her friends releases her final album, comprised of the songs she was working on before she died. Friends selected and edited lyrics, recorded songs and used some of what Teisha herself recorded on her iPhone to produce the album, Carry On. The CD release party is Thursday.

Oregon Art Beat profiled her in 2005:

Are you a fan of Teisha Helgerson’s music? What questions do you have about this musical collaboration?

GUESTS:

  • Jim Brunberg: Creator and co-owner of Mississippi Studios and music producer for Carry On
  • Courtenay Hameister: Head writer and host of Live Wire! Radio and curator of the material on Carry On
  • Scott Weddle: Musician and founding member of the band Amelia
