The 11th annual Portland Jazz Festival runs from Feb. 20-Mar. 2. The first weekend renowned jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, along with local heroes Dave Frishberg and Esperanza Spalding. Over the next week, national starts like Winton Marsalis and Pat Metheny will be featured alongside hometown stars Blue Cranes and the Portland Jazz Composers’ Ensemble (PJCE).

KHMD has the quick and easy Rough Guide to the festival if you’re looking to do it on the cheap, and Program Director Matt Fleeger will join us with his recommendations. We’ll also hear from the PJCE Records director Dan Duval about what his group has planned for the festival.
