Administrators at Portland Public Schools are gearing up for some difficult conversations as they begin overhauling the district’s transfer policies and redrawing neighborhood school boundaries. Changes to the policies that determine where students can transfer within the district could make it harder for students to move from one neighborhood school to another. That could really change the demographics at some schools.

At the same time, the district is working with demographers at Portland State University (PSU) to make predictions about future enrollment. Based on that information, the district will redraw the lines that designate which neighborhood schools kids will attend.

Do you have kids in Portland Public Schools? How will these changes affect you?
