The Wanteds chronicles a dramatic period in the life of struggling musician Tommy Harrington. He’s 34, and has been playing music on and off in Portland for over a decade with little commercial success. His band, The Wanteds, consists solely of him, aided by his keyboard, guitar, and drum machine. At the beginning of the film, he’s about to embark on a cross-country tour when he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. What follows documents the emotional and material struggles of an artist trying to make it, and deciding whether or not to give up.
The Wanteds is playing tonight at 8:30 at the Whitsell Auditorium as part of the closing weekend of the Northwest Filmmakers’ Forum Festival.
Do you have a question for Tommy and Stephanie about their film? Are you an artist who has had to make a decision between your work and your life? How do you make the decision to keep on going with your art or to hang up your hat?
