Next month would have been the 100th birthday of Oregon’s former poet laureate, William Stafford. In honor of his body of work and cultural influence, Portland State University’s Ooligan Press has just published an anthology of student poetry, inspired by William Stafford. The state’s current poet laureate, Paulann Petersen, collaborated with Ooligan and wrote the introduction to the resulting volume. The contributors are school-aged kids, generally from 12-17 years old.

Here’s one of the student readers, Anushka Nair, reading her poem, “I am from Oregon.”

Do you have a connection to the poetry of William Stafford?
