Weekend Look-Ahead 11/10

OPB | Nov. 10, 2011 9:40 a.m. | Updated: Sept. 10, 2013 10:50 p.m.

This weekend we’re excited about the legendary Herbie Hancock headlining the Oregon Symphony. Jazz station KMHD is hosting a whole hour with Hancock Friday morning, in advance of the symphony performance on Friday night. KMHD Program Director Matt Fleeger says Hancock is one of the most innovative and hard-working artists he knows. We’ll also talk with Fleeger about other not-to-be missed jazz opportunities this weekend.

In the world of sports, it’s hard to oversell the appeal of the Oregon Ducks football game against undefeated Stanford. Both teams are among the top 10 in the country — No. 7 Oregon vs  No. 4 Stanford — and the stakes are high. Both teams need the win if they are to advance to the conference title game. One other draw: Stanford’s Andrew Luck is among the best college football players in the country and is mentioned frequently as a favorite for the Heisman trophy.

What are you doing this weekend? Will you be watching the Ducks play Stanford or listening to Herbie Hancock?
