Oregon Art Beat

Bas Relief Artist Maria Simon

Starting with clay, artist Maria Simon creates images that evoke undersea scenes, seaweed and plant life. Her work is contained in frames, and is made in the style of bas relief, rising in relief from a flat surface. Colors add to her work’s painting-like qualities.
