Oregon Art Beat

Ceramic Artist Cary Weigand

Cary Weigand’s fragile ceramic figures wear cloth-like draperies of clay and ornate headdresses. Weigand draws from different spiritual traditions for the symbolic elements of her pieces, which are mostly of women. Weigand talks about how she works, and how she allows the clay to speak through her hands.
