Oregon Art Beat

Painter Gwenn Seemel

Before painting someone’s portrait, Gwenn Seemel requires them to spend at least an hour talking about themselves as she snaps digital photos. Working from the photos, she uses acrylic paints to create colorful portraits with geometric patches and layers of color, a technique she borrowed from printmaking.
