Wood Sculptor Philip Clausen

OPB | Jan. 8, 2004 9 a.m. | Updated: July 11, 2014 3:04 p.m.

He’s not a wood carver. Philip Clausen is a tree sculptor; transforming gnarled logs into art and furniture on a gigantic scale. Travelers stop by his roadside shop near Coquille to marvel at six foot tall mushrooms and massive tree truck tables, while he works on a commission for McMenamin’s Rock Creek Tavern.
