Chetco River kayak

OPB | Feb. 1, 2003 7:30 p.m.

In what has to be one of Field Guide’s toughest treks yet, Alan Wilson leads us by horse, foot, and kayak to see the pristine upper headwaters of the Chetco River in the heart of the Kalmiopsis wilderness. We reach the Chetco after an eight mile hike, then we paddle twenty miles down the rugged stream to our takeout.
