High Cascades Springs

OPB | Feb. 1, 2004 7:30 p.m.

Pure mountain spring water gushes from the ground high up in the Cascade Mountains. Forest Service hydrologist, Gordon Grant, studies these springs which originate from ancient underground resevoirs. The resevoirs are fed by winter snowfall that melts and percolates through the rock and soil. Eventually these frigid springs feed into the Willamette River a hundred miles away.
