Honeydew Harvester Ants

This video is not currently available. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Entomologist Jim McIver takes us to Prineville where we discover some of the secrets of thatch ants. Their name refers to the thatch-like colony where they live. These ants also tend to aphids, who provide them with honeydew, and collect other food from the sagebrush terrain.

First Broadcast: 1994
Producer: Jim Newman
