Kayak Surfing

OPB | Feb. 1, 1998 7:30 p.m.

Battling powerful waves and cold, finicky weather, Oregon Kayak surfers are definitely hard core. For some the tranquility of the ocean is draw enough to the sport, while others revel in taking on huge waves that even the most daring of surfers would hesitate to attempt. Journey to Newport Beach and watch some of the best sea kayakers in the world push themselves to the limit for an unofficial competition that they hold just for the fun of it.
