Oregon Field Guide

North American Butterfly Count

Every Fourth of July, volunteers across North America head out with nets to count the local butterflies. In the Metolius Basin, children and adults capture an array of colorful winged creatures, then let them go again. The information is used by the Forest Service and other agencies.
