Olympia Oysters

OPB | Nov. 9, 2006 11:53 p.m.

Once a thriving species with abundant numbers for fishing, Olympia Oysters have all but disappeared from Netarts Bay. Commercial hatcheries have been employed in reproducing and growing these oysters to a large enough size that they can be released into the bay. Efforts are focused on increasing the population to a large enough size that they might reproduce on their own from within the bay.
