Rescue Dogs

OPB | July 12, 2007 1:30 p.m.

Each year, scores of hikers and hunters become lost or disappear in the wilderness. Search and rescue dogs can be one of the most valuable tools rescue teams can have in finding these people. Certain breeds of dogs excel at this ability, but it takes a lot of training to refine and direct this skill. Attend a “scent” seminar to learn how dogs can be trained to pick up scents and follow them to the source.
