Coastal towns like Waldport are in danger of being swallowed whole by waves traveling the speed of jet planes. Modern technology is allowing scientists to gain a better understanding of the destructive nature of tsunamis. As impending waves threaten the Oregon Coast, scientists push for large scale tsunami warning systems and hope that the new information they are learning will help them predict where and when tsunamis will hit.
