Back from the Emerald City
Earlier this week I spent a couple of days in the land of Microsoft, Starbucks and the Space Needle: that city famous for flying (dead) fish, Seattle. It is a mere three hours up the road from Portland, yet in many ways we seems worlds apart.
I went to explore what's happening at KUOW, the public radio station near the campus of University of Washington. They produce a number of local programs including Weekday, The Conversation, and KUOW Presents. And they are eager to produce a special broadcast with Think Out Loud.
The top idea that came to my mind is to compare the business climates of these two places. What is Washington doing to attract and retain business that maybe Oregon is not? Or the other way around? There are also lots of issues around urban planning, the environment, and transportation. What would you like to hear? If we do an hour-long call-in with KUOW, what should we discuss?
