Love at the Round-Up
Twenty-four years ago at the Round-Up, Peter and Lynda Hirst were newlyweds at their first rodeo. They drove Lynda's mom's old car out from Portland holding the fifth gear in place, as Peter remembers, along most of the drive. They honeymooned here because it was a relatively cheap weekend and let Lynda get back to her job on Monday.
Ironically, she was fired upon her return — her boss said her husband could take care of her now! The Round-Up has remained a sweet memory though — they come back every year to celebrate their anniversary.
Here they are doing just that at the Rainbow Cafe!
During the show Peter asked about the Roundup during World War II. His question was inspired by a recent visit to this ranch, which among other things raised cattle to help feed soldiers during the war.
