Shakespeare Bonus Tracks
At Think Out Loud we try to read as many regional papers around Oregon and Southwest Washington as we can. This two minute video caught my eye today as I was breezing through the Ashland Daily Tidings. It shows visitors to the Oregon Shakespeare festival talking about who they think really wrote the Shakepeare plays.
The show we did on this question aired on the day that the movie Anonymous opened (the premise of the movie is that someone other than William Shakespeare wrote his plays and sonnets.) Our guest talked about the class implications of the discussion and was highly skeptical of the premise, though he admitted it was fun to talk about. One of our commenters suggested we might talk to a Concordia University Shakespeare scholar who holds the minority view. I looked him up immediately after the show and reached out to him twice asking for a time when we might follow-up with him but, sadly, he never got back to me. I hope to connect with him in the future and I'll let you know what he says!
