Newport Police Chief Mark Miranda says supected shooter David Durham is going to be found. "He's hiding now, but if he wants to go anywhere he has to go up 101. Somebody will see something, they'll call us. He's going to be found."
Shannon McDonald, who moved here a year ago from Portland says what she most appreciates about this community is their calm. She is cautious — she wouldn't take the back road to her daughter's baseball field right now. "But it's flooded anyway," she says.
Curtis Landers, Lt. Sheriff with Lincoln County, says even though the active search has scaled back, it won't be a relaxing weekend. "We can't rest yet. There is a lot of pressure to succeed." Law enforcement needs to succeed at it's job, he says, and of course the public needs to be safe.
And Nancy Leonard, Waldport City Manager was struck by how big an impact one person can have on so many, many people's lives. "People here have been getting calls from their friends and family all over the country, even other parts of the world."
