In our discussion of hacking this week, we talked briefly about President Obama’s pressure on Congress to pass the Cybersecurity Act. But we wanted to know more. The Act was introduced earlier this year but got a raft of opposition from civil liberties advocates. The new cyber bill introduced last week seems to be less controversial but its passage is anything but certain — despite the president’s contention that the country’s prosperity depends on cybersecurity. He calls the cyber threat:
one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation.
