Musicfest NW Takes Over

OPB | Sept. 4, 2013 12:25 p.m. | Updated: Sept. 11, 2013 1:25 a.m.

If you’re a music fan in Portland, this is a good week for you. Musicfest Northwest (MFNW) is taking over 16 venues across town from Tuesday through Sunday, showcasing over 150 bands. While the weeknight shows don’t get going until the work day is over, weekend devotees can pack in over 12 hours of music each day.

Now in its 13th year, the festival’s lineup is more overwhelming than ever. It even has its own app. Bands run the gamut from well-traveled national acts like Neko Case and The Helio Sequence to local favorites such as Typhoon and Team Dresch. The shows themselves range in scope from intimate sets at the White Owl Social Club to full-on rock shows at the Crystal Ballroom.

Are you going to MFNW? Which bands are you most excited to see? What are some of your favorite memories from past years?
