Two local names will join the ranks of storied Olympic athletes like Michael Phelps and Nastia Liukin in their quest for gold at the 2012 Olympic Games. Rich Fellers will compete with his 16-year-old Irish show horse named Flexible on the U.S. Equestrian Team during the summer games in London.

Fellers lives in Oregon and trains at the Whip N Spur Farm in Wilsonville with Flexible, a horse that belongs to Harry Chapman and his wife Mollie.

To get there, Fellers competed in Florida earlier this year and then again in Calgary, Canada, where Flexible rose above the pack at the Spruce Meadows CN Grand Prix Performance and World Cup.
