The End of Don't Ask Don't Tell
Almost two decades after the controversial Don't Ask Don't Tell was signed into law by President Bill Clinton, it is coming to an end. President Barack Obama repealed the law earlier this year. It goes into effect on Tuesday, September 20. Gay soldiers have fought in the military throughout history, but never have they been able to serve openly until now.
Sharon Murtagh is one of those people. She served in the Marines from 1985 to 1991 — always having to lie about her homosexuality. She says the repeal is good for all women in the military. We'll hear her story. And we want to hear from you. Are you considering enlisting — or even re-enlisting — in the military now that you can serve openly?
