UO and OSU start Random Drug Testing
Recently, University of Oregon and Oregon State University have come under fire for student athlete drug use. Several months ago ESPN published an article stating that 40-60 percent of the University of Oregon football team smoked marijuana. To combat the harsh criticism that came from the report, the University of Oregon quickly adopted new policies that implemented random drug testing for all student athletes at any point before, during, or after the season.
OSU quickly followed suit, a day later their student athletes were now subject to random drug test. Media attention has primarily focused on marijuana use, however, the test given by both Universities to the athletes will test for all drugs, illicit and performance enhancing.
Do you think college athletes should be required to take random drug test?
