Low-income renters are able to apply for Section 8 vouchers to help them pay for housing. But some landlords don't want to deal with the paperwork involved with accepting a voucher, so they stipulate "no Section 8" in postings for vacancies.
Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek has introduced a bill that would ban landlords from refusing to accept Section 8 vouchers. Some property owners are concerned that it would unduly burden some landlords, due to the additional paperwork and inspections that come with the program. To settle that issue, some real estate owners have proposed the law should be limited to only those landlords with more than ten units.
Would this legislation affect you? How do you want to see Section 8 vouchers regulated?
