Finding Funding For A New I-5 Bridge
The effort to replace the aging span across the Columbia river that connects Portland and Vancouver has been going on now, in some form or another, for more than a decade. Oregon recently passed its portion of the $3.5 billion funding package. But the project depends on Washington lawmakers passing their share. The Washington House passed a bill, but CRC funding has stalled in the Senate. Proponents are hoping for a breakthrough before the end of the legislative session, April 28.
Do you use the current I-5 bridge? When do you want to see construction begin on the new one? Do you support the current design that includes light rail? Why or why not?
