Flood advisories and warnings have been issued in nearly all of western Oregon's lowlands. At this point storms have brought as much as 15 inches of rain many parts of the region. Governor Kitzhaber announced a state of emergency, which will allow state resources to be used for flood relief in Marion, Coos, Benton, and Lincoln counties. More counties are expected to be added to the list in the near future.
Marion County announced a state of emergency Thursday afternoon, and officials told all residents in the town of Turner to evacuate the city. Benton County also declared a state of emergency, and evacuated parts of Corvallis. The Red Cross has opened shelters in several locations across the state.
OPB News is following the flooding throughout the state, and will post updates as they arise. We'll have the up-to-the-minute updates on Think Out Loud in the morning.
