The Oregon Health Authority has been working for more than a year to transform the way it delivers health care. Right now, says Mike Bonetto with the Oregon Health Policy Board, costs are rising with no end in sight, and the care that Oregon Health Plan patients (and most other health care consumers) get is largely uncoordinated. Bonetto says that coordinating people's physical, mental and dental care will both save the state money and actually improve health care outcomes.

The Oregon Health Policy Board met one last time on Tuesday before the start of the February legislative session, where lawmakers will give the Board a thumbs-up or -down on the implementation plan. We'll find out what approval would mean for Oregon Health Plan members and others that the state buys health care for.
