How Should Drones Be Regulated In Oregon?
Lawmakers in Salem are trying to decide how to regulate the use of drones in Oregon. Though the unmanned aircrafts are in the headlines most often for their deadly use in counterterrorism strikes, they have other uses domestically. Farmers, hobbyists, and law enforcement all have an interest in using the drones for non-military purposes.
Oregon is also home to a growing drone industry, and is competing to be selected by the Federal Aviation Administration as a drone testing site.
Lawmakers are now weighing the concerns of industry, civil liberties advocates, and law enforcement officials to determine how to regulate this new technology.
Would the regulation of drone use affect you? What do you want lawmakers to consider about the use of drones?
