A high-profile rape case out of Bend has raised some internet privacy questions. The defendant's lawyer wants to see the Google search records of one of the alleged victims. Google has refused, which could delay the case and bring it to a federal court. Media law watcher Eric Robinson says this case and others like it bring up the need to update the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. One such ongoing effort, sponsored by the ACLU, highlights the fact that the law hasn't been updated since 1986:
