Joe Bell has experienced a parent's worst nightmare: the loss of a child. His son, Jadin Bell hung himself at his La Grande High School in January, after he had reported being bullied at school. Joe Bell says after Jadin died, he lay awake in bed, staring at the ceiling, wanting to die himself, knowing he couldn't, that he had to be strong for the rest of his family, particularly his younger son and his wife.

He says when the idea of a walk came to him, he knew it had to be big — big enough to honor his son and bring attentionto bullying in school. Bell quit the job he'd had for 17 years at Boise Cascade, and began his journey.
