Two lawsuits have set back progress on the Columbia River Crossing. One opposes the bridge on environmental grounds, the other over concerns about the low clearance. Though not entirely unexpected, they're the latest hurdles in a lengthy and contentious process.

Few dispute the need to replace the aging and often congested span connecting Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. But many questions remain about the ultimate design and funding of a bridge to replace it
