In the immediate aftermath of the Clackamas Town Center shooting, Sen. Ginny Burdick (D-Portland) announced she would seek a ban on high-capacity gun magazines. An assault weapons also ban gained momentum with Oregon legislators in the days after the shooting. This was before the start of the 2013 Oregon legislative session.

But Burdick announced Wednesday that she's backing off the bill that would ban high-capacity magazines. The momentum behind the assault weapons ban also appears to have faded as the legislative session got underway.
