On the one hand, Portland Parks & Recreation couldn't be better — the department recently won the highest national honor for parks systems. On the other hand, they're facing big budget cuts for the fourth year in a row. Some of the line items on the department's proposed chopping block (pdf) this year have raised more than a little ire. Daily trash pick-up would disappear. Park bathrooms would be shut and replaced with porta-potties. Public tree inspections would end. The Buckman Pool and the Fulton Community Center would close.
How would cuts to daily trash pick-up and closing facilities run by Portland Parks affect you? What do you think Portland Parks should do to save money?
