Ruling on Access to Boy Scouts Documents

AIR DATE: Thursday, June 14th 2012
Download the mp3 for this show.

The Oregon Supreme Court has handed down a far-reaching ruling in the case of media organizations attempting to get access to court documents in a Boy Scouts of America sexual abuse lawsuit. OPB was among the media organizations suing for access. The ruling states that it's up to judges in individual cases whether to release trial evidence to the public. In this case, the ruling by the lower court judge to release only redacted documents stands. So, OPB and other media organizations will not have access to all the information they wanted.
