Public schools in Oregon are currently allowed to charge tuition for students who live outside of their district and want to attend their schools. For the Riverdale School District, this additional funding has increased arts programs and kept class sizes small. But some believe it is unfair for a public school (especially a wealthy school like Riverdale) to charge tuition and receive federal and state funds.

There is a bill (HB 2748) moving through the legislature that would continue to allow Oregon's public schools to charge tuition except for low-income students, kids in foster care and wards of the state.

What do you think of public schools charging tuition? Do you or your children attend a school in the Riverdale district?
