Rob Smith joins us for our regular business check-in. Here's some of the stories we'll dig into:

  • The Supreme Court's ruling on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act means if you're an insurance broker, you may be out of a job. Insurance brokers help clients find the best health care plan, a role that may now be filled by online exchanges.
  • Retail development in 2012 is on track to increase 47 percent over 2011. By the end of the year developers will complete 783,000 square feet of new space in Portland, due in part to new developments at Jantzen Beach.
  • A Beaverton start-up called Boogie Wipes, which produces saline wipes for kids' runny noses, packed up and moved to Cincinnati — an epicenter of consumer products where the headquarters of Macy's, Kroger, and Proctor & Gamble are located.

Will the Affordable Care Act affect your business? Are you spending more on retail?
