For months now, public employee union negotiators have been meeting with representatives from Governor Kitzhaber's office, trying to hammer out a labor contract that would satisfy both sides. The fiscal year began July 1st without a deal, meaning many public employees have been working without a contract for weeks. A breakthrough has apparently emerged with a tentative deal struck Tuesday. We'll find out more about what this means and what's next in the process.
